Quilt Patterns Make Quilting Exciting HomeThis is a featured page

I was recently surfing online and found a site where people can ask questions and get answers. Since I am a quilter, I plugged in quilt patterns in the search box. I was surprised at how many people had questions about quilt patterns. I wondered if others had similar questions and thought I would do what I could to answer these questions and any others people might ask concerning quilt patterns, quilting supplies, quilt blocks and the like.

First let me say that I've been quilting for over 20 years and I love it. It's a great past time and the fruit of my labors make great gifts that are meaningful. I have made quilts for each of my parents and nieces and nephew. Baby quilts are typically quick and easy, so I've made oodles of them. My favorites is the tie sort of quilt, because that is much quicker than actually quilting. I guess the piecing is the part I like the best. I've taken some to shops and had them machine quilting on long arm machines, too. But for the most part I tie mine.

Some quilt patterns, however just really do need to be quilted. So, think about that as you choose your patterns. Also think about what sort of material you want to work with. I once made a whole quilt out of 12 seasons worth of bowling shirts for an 80 year old woman! Really! She loved it! However, most of the time you will simply be using either scraps or buying pieces of fabric.

As I've already mentioned, I really like the down and dirty sort of quilting most because it provides almost instant gratification. So, rotary quilt patterns are at the top of my list. They lend themselves best to buying fabric rather than using scraps unless you have a plastic pattern that you can cut around with a rotary cutter. This allows for strip quilting and cutting many pieces out at once. Watch your fingers though!
Quilting Supplies By far, in my opinion, the best place to buy quilting supplies is The Leisure Boutique. They have just about anything you could think of: needles, hoops, books (pattern books and technique books). They also have an online quilting class that has video you can watch (really cool.) And, if you want something that's hard to find you can check out their digital quilt pattern downloads of patterns that have been retired at the LeisureArtsLibrary.com Quilt Blocks This is the part that makes quilting so much fun and provides so much versatility to this craft. Quilt blocks are numerous first of all. Secondarily, they can be modified in various ways, made out of different colored hues for various effects and turned various ways for different variations as well. Between the blocks you usually have borders of different colors and then you have outside borders to frame the whole piece. Have fun quilting all the different quilt patterns.
